Phrases and Clauses - Chapter 3

 What is phrases?

A group of words, which makes sense, but not completes sense, is called a phrase.

அர்த்தமுள்ள, ஆனால் முழுமையான அர்த்தமில்லாத சொற்களின் குழு, சொற்றொடர் என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது.

e.g., in a corner .,

It was a sunset of great beauty.

The sun rises in the east.

What is Clauses?

A group of words which forms part of a sentence, and contains a subject and predicate, is called a clause.

ஒரு வாக்கியத்தின் ஒரு பகுதியை உருவாக்கும் மற்றும் ஒரு பொருள் மற்றும் முன்னறிவிப்பைக் கொண்டிருக்கும் சொற்களின் குழு ஒரு உட்பிரிவு என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது.

e.g.,. We cannot start/ while it is raining

        I think that/ you have made a mistake.

       A giant comes/ to my door.
