Parts of speech

Parts of a speech are classified according to their use; that is according to the work they do in a sentence.  They are Eight in number.

1. NOUN

2 ADJECTIVE

3. PRONOUN 

4. VERB 

5. ADVERB

6. PREPOSITION

7. CONJUCTION

8. INTERJECTION

A Noun is a word used as the name of a person, place or thing.

பெயர்ச்சொல் என்பது ஒரு நபர், இடம் அல்லது பொருளின் பெயராகப் பயன்படுத்தப்படும் சொல்.

 e.g., Akbar, Rose, Sun

An Adjective is a word used to add something to the meaning of a Noun.

பெயரடை என்பது பெயர்ச்சொல்லின் பொருளைச் சேர்க்கப் பயன்படும் சொல்.

 E.g., 

  • Akbar was a great king.
  • The rose smells sweet.

A  pronoun is a word used instead of a noun.

பிரதிபெயர் என்பது பெயர்ச்சொல்லுக்கு பதிலாக பயன்படுத்தப்படும் சொல்.

. e.g., 

  • John is absent, because he is ill. 
  • The books are where you left them

A Verb is a word used to express an action or state. 

ஒரு வினைச்சொல் என்பது ஒரு செயலை அல்லது நிலையை வெளிப்படுத்த பயன்படும் சொல்.

e.g., The girl is going to temple

An Adverb is a word used to add something to the meaning of a Verb, an adjective, or another adverb. 

வினையுரிச்சொல் என்பது ஒரு வினைச்சொல், பெயரடை அல்லது மற்றொரு வினையுரிச்சொல் ஆகியவற்றின் பொருளைச் சேர்க்கப் பயன்படும் சொல்.

e.g., I have done the homework fastly.

A preposition is a word used with a noun or a pronoun to show how the person or thing denoted by the noun or pronoun  stands in relation to something else.

ஒரு முன்மொழிவு என்பது பெயர்ச்சொல் அல்லது பிரதிபெயரால் குறிக்கப்படும் நபர் அல்லது பொருள் வேறு ஏதாவது தொடர்பாக எவ்வாறு நிற்கிறது என்பதைக் காட்ட ஒரு பெயர்ச்சொல் அல்லது பிரதிபெயருடன் பயன்படுத்தப்படும் ஒரு சொல்.

 e.g., There is a cow in the garden.

A conjunction is a word used to join words or sentences.

இணைப்பு என்பது சொற்கள் அல்லது வாக்கியங்களை இணைக்கப் பயன்படும் சொல்.

 e.g.,

  •  Rama and Hari are cousins.
  •  I run fast, but missed the train.

An Interjection is a word which expresses some sudden feeling.

இடைச்செருகல் என்பது சில திடீர் உணர்வை வெளிப்படுத்தும் சொல்.

e.g.,

  •   Hurrah! We have won the game.
  •  Alas! She is dead.    [ Ah,Oh]

Here are examples of sentences using "can" and "could" to illustrate their usage: "Can" Examples: Ability: She can swim very well. I can play the guitar. Permission: Can I use your phone to make a call? You can go out with your friends after you finish your homework. Possibility: It can rain later today. There can be unexpected delays during your journey. Requests: Can you please pass me the salt? Can you lend me a hand with this heavy box? "Could" Examples: Past Ability: When I was younger, I could run very fast. He could speak multiple languages fluently. Polite Requests: Could you turn down the volume, please? Could you help me find my keys? Polite Offers: Could I get you something to drink? Could I assist you with your bags? Conditional Statements: If I had more time, I could finish this project. Phrases and Clauses - Chapter 3

 What is phrases? A group of words, which makes sense, but not completes sense, is called a phrase. அர்த்தமுள்ள, ஆனால் முழுமையான அர்த்தமில்லாத சொற்களின் குழு, சொற்றொடர் என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. e.g., in a corner ., It was a sunset of great beauty. The sun rises in the east. What is Clauses? A group of words which forms part of a sentence, and contains a subject and predicate, is called a clause. ஒரு வாக்கியத்தின் ஒரு பகுதியை உருவாக்கும் மற்றும் ஒரு பொருள் மற்றும் முன்னறிவிப்பைக் கொண்டிருக்கும் சொற்களின் குழு ஒரு உட்பிரிவு என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. e.g.,.
